Junyuan Chen
Welcome to my website!
I am a trade and macroeconomist studying the short-run dynamic impact of tariff policy and the propagation of macroeconomic shocks along production networks using theoretical modeling and quantitative methods. My current research examines the different adjustment margins of importers in response to tariff shocks across time horizons, with particular emphasis on the role of inventories in shaping the dynamic responses of aggregate trade flows and their welfare implications.
I joined the School of International Trade and Economics at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in September 2026. Before that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at UC San Diego, where I was a core member of the Globalization and Prosperity Lab and conducted large-scale computational simulations.
